AU$ All prices are in Australian dollars.

Pickles Salvage encompasses everything deemed "uneconomical to repair" by major insurance companies or below the standard of what is sold in general sales (Usually due to damage from an accident).

From damaged vehicles to recreational items, we have a wide catalogue that is repairable or can be used for spare parts for those looking for diamonds in the rough.

E-Salvage is an online bidding system that has been built in-house by Pickles Auctions specifically for the sale of Salvage vehicles located Australia wide.

E-Salvage is a subset of vehicles and items apart of Pickles Salvage located Australia wide. They are sold via an online bidding system of the same name, ensuring more people across the country have access to our stock. To tell if a vehicle is an E-Salvage vehicle, check if it is labelled as a "Pickles Online" asset.

You no longer require a holding deposit to bid in the E-Salvage sales. You will now need to register individually for each E-Salvage sale you wish to participate in. If your bid is successful a deposit will be deducted from your credit card. If you have previously left a holding deposit with us, it is in the process of being returned to the credit card you previously provided and you will receive an email confirming the return of the funds.

If your deposit was left more than 12 months ago we are unable to return the money to your credit card and will contact you to arrange a different method. Please contact depositrefund@pickles.com.au if you have any questions about your deposit.

To assist us in identifying you please quote your bidding number, registered name, driver’s licence number and the first 6 and the last 3 digits of the credit card number you registered with.

When a credit or debit card is added to a My Pickles account the card details are validated by the bank charging the card with a $1 pre-authorisation. This amount never eventuates into an actual charge on the cardholder's account - it will disappear within 5-7 days. Any time the credit card details are changed or updated on the My Pickles account this pre-authorisation will occur again.

No. Pickles Live is our live auction where you can participate in real-time over the internet for the duration of that auction. In comparison, E-Salvage, also known as online sales, operates as an auction lasting for 24 hours, while Pickles Live Sales feature a live auctioneer conducting the sale lot by lot.

No, members of the public and the trade alike can bid freely on Pickles E-Salvage.

Bidding is simple and hassle-free. Each lot offered on E-Salvage will be there for a period of seven days where a bid can be placed 24-hours a day. All that is required is to select the vehicle that you want to bid on and then follow the simple steps of inputting the desired dollar amount. This will be confirmed along with the other applicable charges, giving the potential buyer a sum total of what the salvage/s will cost should the bid/s be successful.

Each bid placed in an E-Salvage auction must exceed an item’s current bid by the “Bid Increment". The bid increment amount depends on the item’s current bid.

  • For amounts under $40, the bid increment is $1
  • For amounts between $40 and under $1,000, the bid increment is $20
  • For amounts between $1,000 and under $5,000, the bid increment is $100
  • For amounts between $5,000 and under $20,000, the bid increment is $250
  • For amounts from $20,000 and over, the bid increment is $500

For example, If the current bid on an item is $60 then the bid increment is $20 and the next bid must be at least $80 ($60 + $20).

If the current bid is $1,700 then the bid increment is $100 and the next bid must be at least $1,800 ($1,700 + $100).

If the current bid is $8,500 then the bid increment is $250 and the next bid must be at least $8,750 ($8,500 + $250).

Remember – when you place a bid you are indicating the maximum you are prepared to pay. The system will bid on your behalf up to your maximum, but not beyond it. Therefore the current bid on an item may be less than the maximum indicated by the bidder. Only the bidder knows their maximum. New bids must exceed the current bid by at least the bid increment.

The minimum valid bid is always shown on the bidding form for each item.

The current bid holder can adjust their maximum bid at any time, as long as their new maximum is at least equal to the current bid.

When you place a bid it is required to be an exact multiple of the bid increment.

  • For amounts under $20, the bid increment is $1
  • For amounts under $1,000, the bid increment is $20
  • For amounts between $1,000 and $4,000, the bid increment is $50
  • For amounts between $4,000 and $10,000, the bid increment is $100
  • For amounts over $10,000, the bid increment is $200 For example, a bid of $10,000 is valid because it is an exact multiple of $200. A bid of $10,100 is invalid because it is not an exact multiple of $200. In this case the Pickles Online system will round your bid amount down to the nearest bid increment, i.e. $10,000.

Bids will never be rounded upwards.

Yes. E-Salvage will be updated on an almost daily basis depending on the releases we receive from our insurance company clients. Once we have received a release for sale of a remotely located vehicle, it will be placed on to the E-Salvage site for bidding to commence.

No. E-Salvage is for the sale of genuine insurance stock only.

WOVR N/A stands for Written Off Vehicle Register Not Applicable - This means the VIN of the asset is still registerable (as long as it passes state law registration requirements etc) as it is not listed as a statutory write off.

When an insurer concludes that it is economically unfeasible to repair a vehicle within its repairer network, it designates the vehicle as a "Repairable Write-off." Buyers are then permitted to repair and re-register such salvaged vehicles, provided they adhere to the requirements of the respective States/Territories where re-registration is sought.

Check with your local road transport authority on how they treat these cars before purchasing a repairable write-off.

A salvage item is deemed a “Statutory Write Off” when an insurer determines that it is uneconomical to repair and/or meet the respective States/Territories legislation, once a salvage has been deemed a SWO it can no longer be road registered in Australia.

An Inspection Passed Repairable Write-Off simply refers to an asset that has been written-off for a previous incident, however has since had it's WOVR performed and is now registered again.

Our images depict what the salvage comes with, if there are no images of the key(s) or books, it is likely that there are no keys or books.

Salvage items must be collected (lifted, towed and transported as applicable) in accordance with Pickles Driver Induction, all relevant and applicable State and Federal legislative instruments, Acts, Regulations, Standards and Codes of Practice including, but not limited to, the Heavy Vehicle National Law, Chain of Responsibility, and Workplace Health and Safety laws.

Temporary movements permits and unregistered vehicles permits will NOT be accepted for collection of the item.

Any form of self-loading of the item by winching, pushing, dragging etc is NOT permitted.

Onsite dismantling of the item or onsite hot works are NOT permitted whatsoever.

Although many Repairable Write Off salvages can obtain insurance coverage upon being repaired to the manufacturer's specifications, not all insurers offer coverage for previously written-off vehicles. It is advisable to enquire about insurance options before making a purchase.

While Pickles can assist you with loading the asset, it is the purchaser's responsibility to arrange the transport.

Please be aware when collecting your asset or sending someone to transport it on your behalf, the transporter will need the zero-balance invoice to successfully collect it.

You can view a salvage asset via the photos on our website which we upgraded so they are of a higher quality.

We also recommend running your own PPSR report using the Personal Property Security Register online, so you can see the damage in which resulted in the cars write-off status.

Once successful, the buyer will receive an email confirming the purchase including all applicable charges. A deposit will be required for each lot purchased (the amount will depend on the purchase price of the lot). The locations and contact details for where the vehicle is stored will also be included. Please note that the responsibility for transportation of purchased vehicles rests with the buyer and vehicles will not be released until full payment has been received under the terms and conditions of the auction.

Payment can be made via direct deposit only.

Yes. Successful bidders on E-Salvage will be notified by Pickles. However, the responsibility of transporting the vehicle/s then lies with the purchaser. As stated above, please note that vehicles will not be released until full payment has been received.

Yes. GST is included in the purchase price as it is also included in the fees associated with a successful purchase. The GST component will be broken down for the successful purchaser in full on the tax invoice provided.

Clear title is guaranteed on all vehicles placed on E-Salvage. All vehicles are sold unencumbered and are flagged on WOVR (written off vehicle register).

E-Salvage yards typically provide complimentary winching or tilt tray services to make vehicles accessible post-purchase. However, if there are additional requirements such as forklifting onto car carriers, there may be a forklifting surcharge.

Any charges beyond the initial services and the free 3 days of storage post-sale are subject to agreement between the buyer and the salvage yard.
