Recently the Australian Government released the Australia Infrastructure Plan, Project and Initiative Summaries. Developed using data from the 2015 Australian Infrastructure Audit and submissions from state and territory governments, industry and the community, the 2019 Priority Lists reflects the diversity of Australia’s infrastructure needs over the next 15 years.
This year, there are 121 infrastructure proposals of national significance which is the highest number since its inception.
Twenty-five new initiatives have been added this year and while majority are consistent with previous years – such as the focus on ensuring public transport is frequent, accessible and maintains the liveability of Australian cities – there are a number of forward-thinking, ambitious solutions such as the delivery of a national electric vehicle fast-charging network.
Taking a look at the high Priority Projects, we comment on the forthcoming market we expect to see in the industrial marketplace.
The outlook in the east coast market for construction equipment is that it will increase in demand, and returns in the equipment market will remain strong for the next 5 years and beyond. This type of infrastructure spend will provide confidence for businesses to grow and provide capex for equipment.
