A futuristic Ferrari recently set a record for 21st-century vehicle sale prices, fetching a whopping €8.3 million (Australian $12.4 million) at a charity auction. The auction was part of an event at Ferrari's factory to celebrate their 70th anniversary. The entire sale price will be donated to Save the Children, an international youth education charity.

The winning bid was more than twice what the vehicle was expected to fetch at auction, with at least twelve competing bidders, and was a significant premium from the last LaFerrari Aperta sold at a charity auction which benefited Italian earthquake victims and sold for about $8.4 million AUD.
The vehicle itself has yet to be produced - it will be the 210th, and last, LaFerrari Aperta. It will be outfitted with specific, unique Rosso Fuoco livery, metallic Biano Italia racing stripes on its hood and tail and an interior trimmed with black leather, red stitching and black carbon fiber paneling. Bidders were able to review digital renderings of the vehicle. Several other Ferraris were also sold at the auction, including a a California 250 GT SWB and a 1958 250 GT Cabriolet Series I.
