How Pickles celebrates International Women’s Day and every day
March 8 is International Women’s Day and this year’s theme is #InspireInclusion. Pickles is proud to support women everyday in every way possible, from paid maternity leave to educational opportunities, Pickles works hard to ensure our roles are accessible and advantageous to the female workforce!
To attract great female candidates to our roles, we offer a range of initiatives that empower women to join Pickles, which operates in industries that have historically been male dominated. That’s why Pickles makes a concerted effort to provide employment benefits that directly benefit women in our workplace.
Pickles employment benefits for women in the workplace
8 WEEKS PAID MATERNITY LEAVE | To support our current female workforce and the women who join us in the future, we offer 2 months of paid maternity leave after 2 years of continuous service, so that we can support our employees when they need it the most.
EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EAP) | We take pride in supporting employees and their families, so we provide free and easily accessible counselling services to ensure that we are keeping our team members mentally and emotionally well. The professional counselling service is available to Pickles employees and their immediate families, and is free and confidential.
TRAINING & PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES | We have a long history with many industries that have historically been inaccessible to women. This is why we provide workplace training and development for industry-specific skills to offer a foot in the door for many Australian industries. This initiative takes many forms, including paid university opportunities, skills training and mentorship for women across Pickles.
WELLBEING LEAVE | One of the ways we support and celebrate our staff is to offer Wellbeing Leave, which consists of 5 additional days of salaried leave per year to employees after they reach 2 years of continuous service. This scheme

The Pickles culture speaks for itself! Check out how our workforce feels about the topic of #InspireInclusion at Pickles -
‘In innovation, we always want diverse perspectives and a good cross section of all walks of life. The theme of #InspireInclusion for IWD highlights the need of having diverse perspectives to lead into better decision making. A good pulse check for me is also seeing who’s in the meeting and thinking, who should I include and are any decisions being made in the meeting today affecting anyone I’m not including.’
Pauline Tan, Product Manager, Digital Acquisition
‘The theme of #InspireInclusion to me sits in knowing that those above me (and around me) are trusting of my decisions, supportive of my approach, appreciative of my efforts and ultimately have my back. It also speaks to how I manage my own team. I always give everyone the opportunity to have a go, whether that be having a crack at a design concept, or just being all ears to ideas from anyone, in any area of the business.’
Jo Darvill-Moore, Head of Brand & Design
‘Pickles has always been a great company that #InspiresInclusion. As a female in what is typically seen as a male-dominated industry, I have also felt equal and heard among my male peers. Proof of this is when you look at the tenure of staff at Pickles.’
