The Green Vehicle Guide, an Australian Government Initiative, ranks vehicles best to worst based on their CO
2 emissions. All vehicles are tested in accordance with Australian Design Rule (ADR) 81/02 to determine both fuel consumption and CO
2 emissions. Vehicles are ranked by combined tailpipe CO
2 emissions (lowest to highest). In cases where the tailpipe emissions are equal, vehicles are then ranked by urban CO
2 emissions, followed by extra urban CO
2, energy consumption, electric range, air pollution standard and noise. Where all results are equal, vehicles can then be ranked in alphabetical order (by make, model and variant).
