We regularly see exemplary prestige and collectible vehicles come up for auction here at Pickles. Sometimes these vehicles also have a very unique history we find worth highlighting.
The A9X is part of Holden's third generation Torana line. The A9X was heavily modified for performance and based on the L34-optioned LH model, designed specifically to win the Bathurst 1000 touring car race. It was beat out in 1977, but A9X's won the Australian Touring Car Championship and Bathurst 1000 in 1978 and 1979, setting the touring-car lap record and winning by six laps in '79.
Less than 66,000 LX Toranas have been produced by Holden. This is one of only two A9X's featuring the Windsor Blue colour. The auction ends on 9 March 2017. To see more photos of this rare vehicle or bid, check out the 1977 Holden Torana auction listing here.
